Deputies responded to a report about 8 p.m. Thursday of several people riding a go-cart on the horse racing track of the Logan County Fairground. The individuals reportedly left the area before law enforcement arrived at the scene, and the matter remains under investigation.
Suspect lodged for misdemeanor theft
Levi J. Levering, 20, of 6784 Willoby St., Huntsville, was charged Thursday afternoon with misdemeanor theft and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
About 3:15 a.m. Thursday, deputies had observed Mr. Levering walking in the area of Napoleon Street in Huntsville.
When they stopped to talk with him, they noticed that he had a small toolbox in the pocket of his hooded sweatshirt. He said the toolbox belonged to his father.
Later that morning about 11:45 a.m., deputies received a report from Robert A. Gibson, 4791 Napoleon St., Huntsville, regarding the theft of a small toolbox from a vehicle parked by his residence.
The defendant was located a short time later and was placed under arrest.
