Herbert Leroy Wallace, 82, of Russells Point, passed away Tuesday evening, April 22, 2014, at University of Toledo Medical Center.
He was born in Rushsylvania on Jan. 16, 1932, to the late William F. and Dora G. Rhodes Wallace. He married the former Diane J. Burdge on Aug. 25, 1955, in Rushsylvania and she preceded him in death in 1984. He was also preceded in death by a son, Todd A. Wallace.
He is survived by four children, Tim (Becky) Wallace, Terry (Linda) Wallace, Tracy Wallace and Colleen (Tim) Sadler; 10 grandchildren, Crocker Wallace, Cassie Wallace, Todd Wallace, Tia Wallace, Seth Wallace, Brooks Wallace, Kylie Wallace, Jordan Wallace, Diana Faye Tuttle and Timira Sadler; two great-grandchildren, Cameo Turner and Emilee Lawson; and longtime companion, Lois Stegal.
A Rushsylvania High School graduate, Herb retired from Super Foods after 40 years of service. He was a staff sergeant with the United States Air Force in the late 1950s. He was a member of the Indian Lake Browns Backers, Indian Lake Eagles Aeries 3615, Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533 and Doyle R. Miller AMVETS Post 39, all of Lakeview. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards. He also loved to watch the Browns and he loved his dog, Tuffy.
The Rev. Karen Blackburn leads a funeral at 10 a.m. Saturday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, where visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
