Monday’s running of the Boston Marathon included several runners with local ties.
Huntsville’s Mary Jenkins, who was near the finish line when one of the blasts occurred last year, was back in Boston on Monday. Jenkins, 52, finished in a time of 4:22:49. She placed 9,281st among female runners, 916th in her age group and 22,309th overall.
Belle Center resident Christy Garver, a teacher at Bellefontaine City Schools, crossed the finish line in 3:37. Garver, 31, was 3,174th in the female rankings, 2,249th for her age group and 11,471st overall.
Bellefontaine’s Steve Jenkins, 67, finished in 4:52:08. He was 14,922nd in the male rankings, 371st in his age group and 26,367th overall.
Bellefontaine resident Mike Kennedy, 65, recorded a final time of 4:58:20. He placed 15,274th among the men in the field, 390th for his age group and 27,072nd overall.
Also participating was Bellefontaine native Michael Colombo, 43. A 1988 BHS graduate who now resides in Massachusetts, Colombo finished in an impressive time of 2:56:48. He placed 1,643rd in the male rankings, 233rd in his age group and 1,739th overall.
