Local instructor’s 50-year career celebrated

A longtime ballet and jazz instructor led an impromptu dance with a number of her former students during a retirement party hosted in her honor Saturday, celebrating her half century of commitment to teaching dance in the Bellefontaine area.
Former pupils of all ages standing behind their instructor Suzanne Dennis, longtime owner and operator of Detwiler School of Dance, smiled while wiping away a few tears during the lighthearted final dance number at Myeerah’s Inn, 2875 Sandusky St., Zanesfield.
“We laugh and have fun together. We laugh with each other, but we don’t laugh at each other,” Mrs. Dennis said of her teaching philosophy.
“It was always an adventure with all of these ladies. I gave them each respect, and they gave it back to me threefold. I don’t have a single bad memory of working with them.
“Time flies when you’re having fun.”
