2 airlifted from serious injury crash

Craig D. Ripley, 53, of Willshire, and John Ruppert, 63, of St. Marys, each was transported by medical helicopter to OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus for incapacitating injuries sustained in a crash about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Carl Harris III, 40, of Cincinnati, was operating a northbound box truck on U.S. Route 68 when he attempted to make a left turn onto State Route 638 and was struck in the right front by a southbound car operated by Mr. Ripley.

The car bounced off the box truck, went left of center and was struck head-on by a northbound car operated by Mr. Ruppert.  

Mr. Harris did not report any injuries. Mr. Ripley was transported by MedFlight helicopter to the hospital, while Mr. Ruppert was transported by CareFlight to the hospital.

Each of the drivers was wearing their seat belts. Heavy damage was reported to the two cars and light damage to the box truck. Mr. Harris was cited for an improper turn.
