CCS students compete at ACSI art, music event


Calvary Christian Schools students recently participated in the Association of Chrisitian Schools International art and music competition at Cedarville University.

More than 200 pieces of art created by Ohio Valley schools students were on display.

Results for Calvary Christian High School art students are as follows: superior and excellent — Maykayla Hartley; and excellent — Daniel Salmonowicz, Amanda Koons, Peter Printz, Austin Durnell and Nathalie Thompson.

Middle school art results are as follows: superior — Ella Studebaker, Rylan Studebaker and Christopher Myers; superior and excellent — Katie Thompson; and excellent — Daniel Wilt, Adalyn Caudill, Max Schottelkotte, Jon Salmonowicz, Juliene Myers and Faith Wenger.

The school also announced the results for music students: superior — Derek Robb, drum; Amanda Koons, Peter Kratz, piano; Mia Printz, vocal; Audrey Slemmons, Maggie Wilcoxon, Naomi Cook, flute; Brit’tani Brown, Makayla Hartley, Amanda Koons, Mallory Leach, Maddie McGillis, Mia Printz, Jade Schottelkotte, Faith Wenger, ensemble; superior and excellent — Andy Marr, piano and French horn.

In other school news, the high school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes sponsored a Pennies for Patients fundraiser, a national campaign for those with cancer. The total amount collected was $1,111, with Cindy Harshfield’s K-4 classroom collecting the largest amount, $298.
