Jonas ‘Jony’ Coblentz Jr.

Jonas “Jony” Coblentz Jr., 79, of Bellefontaine, passed away at his home Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born in Hartville on July 25, 1934, to the late Jonas and Lydia Miller Coblentz. He also was preceded in death by an infant son, Marvin Coblentz; sister, Mary Ann Miller; and brothers, Atlee, Joe and Ben Coblentz.

Jony married the former Martha Troyer on Oct. 12, 1961, in Hartville and she survives in Bellefontaine, along with his children, Paul (Diana) Coblentz of Hartville, JoAnna (Harlen) Helmuth of Bellefontaine, Steven Coblentz of Broadway, Va., Dan (Betty) Coblentz of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and Nathan (Mary Sue) Coblentz of Logan; 15 grandchildren; three sisters, Iva Miller, Mattie Coblentz and Miriam Miller, all of Dover, Del.; five brothers, Freeman Coblentz of Dover, Del., Alvin (Martha) Coblentz of Farmington, Mo., Dan (Clara) Coblentz of Lobelville, Tenn., Henry (Ada) Coblentz of Etowah, N.C., and Bill (Miriam) Coblentz of Advance, Mo.

Jonas worked as a trim carpenter and was a member of the Belle Center Amish Church.

Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Jonas’ residence, 5451 N. County Road 25, Bellefontaine. Bishop David Yoder conducts a funeral at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Mahlon Coblentz residence, 7443 County Road 49, Belle Center. Burial is in the Belle Center Amish Cemetery.
