Paige Guenther and Malana Ledley combined for 41 points to help carry Ridgemont’s girls basketball team to a 71-29 thumping of visiting Village Academy in a non-league matchup Tuesday. Guenther led the Gophers (6-14) in numerous categories. The junior had 23 points, 22 rebounds, five steals, five assists and four blocks. Ledley also played a big role with 18 points and 13 rebounds. “Paige recorded another double-double for us and Malana played a good game,” said Ridgemont head coach Kristy Scharf. “This was a good team win. We needed this win as we head into the tournament.” Ridgemont took a commanding lead in the first quarter with a 33-4 run. The Gophers went on to hold a 42-20 halftime advantage. Also aiding in the win for the Gophers were Grace Poeppelman with 12 points and Cierra James with eight points. The junior varsity score was not available. Ridgemont begins tournament action next Wednesday against Cory-Rawson at Lima Bath High School.
