The Chiefs end their season with a 14-13 record. Shawnee is now 21-5.
“We were unable to get on track offensively,” said BHS head coach Katie Buffkin. “However, our seniors Cat Faulder and Addi Brown, playing there last game, provided leadership by continuing to battle until the last out.”
Springfield Shawnee put the game away early on.
The Braves scored twice in the first inning, three times in the second and again in the third for a 6-0 advantage.
Shawnee added three more runs in the fifth frame.
Bellefontaine’s lone run came in the seventh inning.
Shawnee collected 13 hits and also benefited from three Bellefontaine errors.
Brown drove in Bellefontaine’s run with a sacrifice fly.
The Braves advance to play Greenville in the sectional final Tuesday.
