Blake Stayman, 20, of 168 N. Sandusky St., Rushsylvania, was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Deputies responded to his residence to perform a well-being check on Cassie McMillen, who resides at 843 W. Township Road 51, Belle Center. Her father had heard that she was in an automobile accident.
Mr. Stayman answered the door at the residence, and told deputies that he actually had been driving Ms. McMillen’s car at the time of the accident, which occurred about 6:45 a.m. on State Route 47 just west of West Mansfield, according to troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Ms. McMillen said she did not give the defendant permission to drive her car. He was transported to the Logan County Jail.
Regarding the accident, Mr. Stayman was operating a westbound vehicle when he went off the right side of the road, overcorrected, then went off the left side of the road and overturned.
He was transported by Bokescreek squad to Hardin Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
The driver was cited for failure to control and driving under suspension.
