West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team jumped on visiting Springfield Catholic Central in the second quarter and went on to roll to a 68-54 win Friday in Ohio Heritage Conference action.
The Tigers are now 16-5 overall and 11-2 in the OHC. The Irish drop to 5-12, 1-9.
The score was tied 12-12 when the first quarter ended.
WL-Salem then went on a 17-6 run in the second quarter to take a 29-18 advantage at halftime.
The Tigers continued to pull away in the third quarter with a 28-13 effort. That extended their lead to 26 points at 57-31.
Landon Hormann powered the Tigers with a game-high 23 points, Grant Burden had 16 points and Max Bailey added 10 points.
In junior varsity action, WL-Salem won 40-27. Ben Bowden led the Tigers with eight points.
WL-Salem travels to Triad on Friday.
