Members of the Logan County District Board of Health approved during their Wednesday meeting a $1,000 state grant to conduct body mass index screenings on area children, and also were briefed on a situation that has effectively canceled all vaccination clinics at the health district.
Officials report that LCHD staff discovered Tuesday morning that the walk-in cooler that stores vaccinations had not been at the proper temperature because of a malfunction with the thermostat. The cooler was at the correct temperature when it was last checked Monday.
There was no issue with vaccines that were administered to clients, health administrator Lisa Downing said.
All childhood and adult immunization clinics, including the shots for tots clinic scheduled for today, have been canceled until further notice.
“We will be doing some investigation to figure out what happened, and will possibly be replacing some vaccines,” the administrator said. “We certainly will be hoping to have the clinics up and running again as soon as possible.”
