Hilliker Heat girls fare well in swimming dual meet

The Hilliker Heat swim team was defeated in the overall scoring against Sidney/Shelby County in a dual meet Saturday, but the girls on the squad had a very successful showing.

The Hilliker Heat girls outscored Sidney 228-80. However, Sidney prevailed 333-263 in the overall scoring.

For the girls team, getting wins in the 8-and-under division were Sarah Fulmer in the 25 freestyle and 100 freestyle, Junette Ly in the 50 freestyle, 25 breaststroke and 100 individual medley and Mia Stallard in the 25 butterfly.

Adding second-place efforts for the 8-and-under age group were Stallard in the 25 freestyle and Sarah Fulmer in the 25 backstroke.

Taking first in the 9-and-under age group were Sarah Starkey in the 100 freestyle, 50 backstroke and 50 breaststroke, Samantha Starkey in the 50 butterfly and Torrance Cline in the 100 individual medley, the 200 freestyle relay team of Cline, Mullaney Yoder, Samantha Starkey and Sarah Starkey and the 200 medley relay team of Samantha Starkey, Yoder, Sarah Starkey and Cline.

Finishing second in the 9-10 division were Chloe Reynolds in the 100 freestyle and 50 breaststroke and Samantha Starkey in the 100 individual medley.

Capturing wins in the 11-12 girls division were Amy Fulmer in the 50 freestyle, 50 backstroke and 100 individual medley, Lauran Barthauer in the 100 freestyle, 50 breaststroke and 50 butterfly, Madeline Dailey in the 200 freestyle, the 200 freestyle relay team of Shelby Starkey, Lauran Barthauer, Anna Louden and Amy Fulmer and the 200 medley relay team of Amy Fulmer, Lauran Barthauer, Shelby Starkey and Anna Louden.

Taking second in the 11-12 division were Shelby Starkey in the 50 freestyle, 50 backstroke and 100 individual medley and Anna Louden in the 100 freestyle.

Grabbing first-place finishes for the 13-and-over division were Emily Fulmer in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly, Molly Schulz in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke, Megan Barthauer in the 500 freestyle, Regan Horman in the 100 breaststroke, Shelbi Moore in the 200 individual medley, the 200 freestyle relay team of Moore, Schulz, Horman and Emily Fulmer and the 200 medley relay team of Schulz, Megan Barthauer, Moore and Emily Fulmer.

Contributing second-place finishes in the 13-and-over division were Schulz in the 50 freestyle, Horman in the 100 freestyle, Moore in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly and Megan Barthauer in the 100 breaststroke.

Leading the boys was Jared Salyer, who placed first in the 50 breaststroke in the 9-10 age division.

Taking second for the Heat in the 8-and-under age division was Kelvin Ong in the 25 freestyle, 50 freestyle and 25 breaststroke.

In the 9-10 age division, Dylan Jordan was second in the 50 backstroke and Ryan Braig took second in the 50 butterfly.

Collin Jordan had a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle for the 11-12 age group.
