Another tremendous season for West Liberty-Salem’s football team resulted in some lofty honors on the Associated Press all-Southwest District football team.
The Tigers, who went 10-0 in the regular season this fall for the second straight year, landed three players on the Division V first team and had three others earn second-team and honorable mention awards.
Representing the Tigers’ on the first-team unit were senior receiver Ross Hickenbottom, senior offensive lineman Alex Gardner and senior defensive lineman Landon Hormann.
Hickenbottom was a huge part of the Tigers’ passing game. He caught 32 passes for 645 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 20 yards per catch.
“Ross was like a lot of our seniors this year,” said WL-Salem coach Toby Smith. “When he had the opportunity to make a play, he stepped up. He made a lot of big plays for us this season.”
