Gerald Christman describes himself as a neighbor to the Logan County community and he wants to do what he can to locate Mrs. Russell, 85, of rural Lewistown, who has been missing since Feb. 16 and is presumed dead.

Mr. Christman has contacts with people trained in search and rescue and is currently in Tennessee laying the groundwork and finding a command center for Saturday’s search.

He said an organized search will use a grid system to go over areas where Mrs. Russell may have been dumped by Sammy K. Littleton II, 37, of Bellefontaine, who reportedly admitted to detectives he killed the elderly couple at their County Road 91 home, drove off with their bodies in their car and dumped the bodies along the Interstate 75 corridor.

The defendant has been charged with murder, felonious assault, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence in the Feb. 11 slaying of Tiffany Brown.

He has been in custody of West Virginia authorities since his Feb. 23 capture in Princeton, W.Va. Paperwork from Gov. John Kasich seeking the defendant’s extradition had not yet reached West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin’s office.
