A team of Benjamin Logan Elementary School students, Mason Manns, Sarah VanDyke, Jamie Gill and Mei Carmer won the school’s third annual Reading Olympics Tuesday. Mei received a special trophy for reading 17 books. For the competition, 19 third- and fourth-grade students qualified to become Reading Olympians by reading at least 10 books from a list of 20 titles. Book topics ranged from entertaining or mysterious plots to historical fiction. Olympians completed a journal page of story details for each book that they read. Points were scored during competition, when Olympians answered various questions by naming the correct book title and author. More than 30 family guests and friends attended on competition day to support their Reading Olympians. The Reading Olympics coordinator is Susan Simon. |
