Robot challenge hosted at BLMS; teams participate in Lego event

The Benjamin Logan Middle School Global Gateways Program recently hosted the second annual Raider Robotic Challenge, with each team creating a presentation focusing on what they learned about leadership, teamwork, research, writing and problem solving.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom served as the theme for the missions that students programmed their Lego NXT robots to accomplish. Points were scored for navigating the Raging River, returning the Sankara Stone to the village, freeing the Child Slaves, and closing the Lava Chamber, as well as helping Indy with other missions.

Receiving the Raider Robotics Challenge Trophy was seventh-grade Golden Nuggets team of Taylor Pooler, Megan Rutan, Jack Robinson, Colin Headings, Daniel Meier, Reilly Robson and Lilly Stacy.

The Global Gateways teams participated in the First Lego League Competition at Wright State University, Ohio Model United Nations in Columbus, and Raider Robotics, under the direction of coaches Susan Simon and Amy McCormick.
