COLUMBUS — Ohio State came away with a win here Saturday, but the blemishes of the performance were hard to overlook.

Ohio State used a 72-yard touchdown pass from Braxton Miller to Devin Smith with 3:26 remaining to outlast an upset-minded California team 35-28 on Saturday in Ohio Stadium.
It was not the type of win, though, that left OSU head coach Urban Meyer and Buckeye fans glowing.
The Buckeyes allowed 512 yards along with a host of big plays and also committed 11 penalties.
“Our guys found a way,” said a relieved Meyer. “I have been in games before where I thought we were going to lose, where I just kept waiting. I thought someone would make a play. I really did.”
